The development of a Grand Wagoneer EV has begun, and Jeep’s CEO Christian Meunier “nagged” the electric SUV on Stellantis EV Day. He said:

As previewed in our rendering, the electric Jeep Grand Wagoneer may not look noticeably different from its sensor.

The Jeep Grand Wagoneer EV may not have its own look. Given that Grand Wagoneer customers prefer the sleek and comparatively old-fashioned style, the design team led by Mark Allen may not use the EV ‘starter kit’ as a smooth snout, blue highlights and closed (flight-optimized) wheels. Even if the upper grille is closed, it should have the familiar cut-outs to preserve the characteristic seven-compartment effect. Expect the charging port to be located on the left front fender, which would allow for comfortable nose-in parking when connected.

Jeep Grand Wagoneer EV price

At the Jeep APAC roundtable on 13 July 2021, TopElectricSUV Christian Meunier asked if the Wagoneer EV would be the most expensive Jeep and how the price would be justified. Meunier referred to the product as the Grand Wagoneer EV in his response, and the luxury variant of the new Wagoneer family would see complete electrification in the first phase.

“Grand Wagoneer is obviously not a very affordable product, it is a very premium product, very state of the art, state of the art, and BEV, the electrified version. The BEV version is probably not going to be an affordable product,” said Meunier. He justified the premium pricing for Grand Wagoneer EV with reference to the experience of the driver waiting in this vehicle:

That thing (Jeep Grand Wagoneer EV) drives completely quiet, with a very strong acceleration. This is magic. This is something no one has ever seen before!

Christian Meunier, CEO, Jeep, responds to TopElectricSUV on July 13, 2021
