After over ten years of dormancy, the name “Islander” will reappear in the Jeeps lineup, appearing on both the Renegade and the Wrangler.

After all, what better time to introduce a special edition package that evokes warm sun and soft sand than the center of winter? At this rate, Jeep will surely introduce a Jack Frost package in mid-August.

The Islander package is built on the closest base Sport S upholstery for the Wrangler, and is available on either two- or four-door models and comes with a variety of special brands. That lettering on the hood is accompanied by a depiction of Tiki Bob – yes, he has a name – along with embroidered Islander logos and Surf Blue stitching on the seats.

The rest of the rig is mostly standard Sport S price, but Mopar rock rails have been added along its flanks. There must be some hard sand on that island.

As for the Renegade, its Islander package also attaches to a beginner’s trim; here, the North 4 × 4 model hosts similar Islander-specific interior and exterior styling treatments as the Wrangler. A panoramic sunroof is included, as well as 19-inch silver metal rims and a remote start system.

“You can not help but think of summer and beach life when you see these new special editions of Islander,” said Jim Morrison, head of Jeep Brand in North America. After what seems like an eternity of shoveling the driveway, we take our summer vibes wherever we can get them.

In addition to the color you see here, the Islander package is available in several different shades. Wrangler Islanders are available in almost any standard color choice – including the hugely named Snazzberry – while Renegade Islander shoppers can choose from a quartet of samples.

Decades ago, the Wrangler YJ was first offered with an Islander package in 1988, one that included a lot of 80s graphics including a stylized sun and faster stripes. If the aftermarket does not replicate these for the new iteration, we will be very disappointed.

These Wrangler Islander and Renegade Islander special editions are already on the brand’s Build & Price tool and can be ordered right now from local Jeep dealers. The two-door Wrangler Islander has a starting price of $ 42,715 ($ 46,565 for four-door models) while the Renegade Islander is $ 34,140.
