Jeep continues to show off magnificent SUVs with large Grand Cherokee L.

Otherwise, aesthetically, this seven-passenger SUV is familiar. It has that iconic waterfall grill that has been a part of Jeep for so many years. It has a strong stance and a prototypical profile that loses a certain difference. Among other full-size SUVs, it loses a bit of personality (compared to the Grand Wagoneer) by having a less elegant exterior.

Apart from the stylish L-symbol on the rear bumper and the Grand Cherokee logo with the American flag on the side, there is not much else that makes this SUV come out of a crowded field of competitors.

My tester was the Summit Reserve trim, which has some amazing interior elements that help restore this SUV as something that stands out from the crowd. As was the case with my Grand Wagoneer experience, the Grand Cherokee made me say wow several times and exclaim, “Who does Jeep think they are!”

It’s a good exclamation point and really shows how Jeep has changed its name thanks to SUVs like the Grand Cherokee. Sure, the Jeep still has the rugged Wrangler, with its basic interior, but it can really pack on sophistication and luxury as well. And with the Grand Cherokee L, the interior screams luxury with every look and every feeling of the exclusive points of contact.

For 2022, the Jeep will bring an optional 10.1-inch touchscreen to the instrument panel on the passenger side, which mimics the Grand Wagoneer. Standard is a 10.25-inch digital cluster and an 8.4-inch touch screen that seamlessly integrates with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Stellantis, the company that owns Jeep, continues to have one of the cleanest and most intuitive infotainment systems in the industry. And all technology fits perfectly in the Grand Cherokee L.

The cargo space behind the seat on the third row is impressive with 17.2 cubic feet (with the seats upright). The total cargo space is 84.6 cubic feet with all seats folded, which shows how big and resourceful this SUV is.

My tester had the optional Summit Reserve equipment package, which includes a sound system with 19 speakers, ventilated front seats, Palermo leather upholstery and high-quality leather seats.

None of these niceties would matter if the show was not there.

Thankfully, the Grand Cherokee L has a capable 3.6-liter V6 engine. This is less power than in Grand Wagoneer, but it does not fight off the line either. The 293 horsepower is sufficient, and the 8-speed automatic transmission offers smooth, safe gears. For those who want more power, there is an optional 5.7-liter V8 engine.

My tester came with available four-wheel drive and variable road settings. This gives an extra amount of confidence and also maintains Jeep’s capable off-road skills. You will not cross a mountainside with the Grand Cherokee L, but in tough road conditions it will surpass many other competitors.

The base price for my tester was $ 59,660. With additional equipment packages and options, my tester had a final MSRP of $ 67,090.

The fuel economy of the V6-powered, four-wheel-drive SUV is rated at 18 mpg / city and 25 mpg / highway. During a week’s most suburban driving, I had an average of just over 21 mpg.

You know that the Jeep is in something when the only vehicle that can be compared to the Grand Cherokee L is another Jeep SUV. The grandeur continues from Jeep and it is fully displayed in the 2022 Grand Cherokee L.
