Jeep Avenger petrol version fully revealed in clearest images

American SUV maker Jeep is all set to introduce the production version of the Avenger compact SUV in Europe and other international markets. The new Jeep Avenger will be the brand’s smallest SUV and is also expected to launch in our market in 2023-24. The company has only revealed the electric version of the compact SUV; though online configurator on Jeep’s Europe website confirms that the small SUV also comes with a turbo petrol engine.

Ahead of the official launch, the clearest spy shots of the new Jeep Avenger petrol version have leaked onto the Internet. The vehicle is detected without protection and reveals all the design hints. Also, the rear profile shows an exhaust pipe which further confirms that it is a petrol version.

The new Jeep Avenger will be positioned below the Renegade compact SUV. The new compact SUV is 4.08 meters long, making it 6 inches shorter than the European Renegade. In fact, the overall size of the Avenger is similar to a Hyundai Venue sold in global markets. The SUV has a ground clearance of 200 mm, which is the best in the category. The SUV has off-road capability with 20-degree approach, 20-degree breakover and 32-degree departure angles. The EV comes with short overhangs and undercarriage skid plates to protect the battery.

The spotted model appears to be the lower-spec model, as it comes with a blacked-out front grill with no chrome. It gets a signature 7-slat grille and stylish headlamps and high-mounted LED DRLs, all mounted in a single casing. The spotted model has a wide air dam in black and has a narrower air intake located between the grille and the lower air dam. The fog light unit is also located on the edges of the lower bumper. There is a skid plate located just below the bumper.

Jeep Avenger Petrol features

The Jeep Avenger features thick body cladding all around the body, functional roof rails, pronounced wheel arches, multi-spoke alloy wheels and C-pillar mounted rear door handles. The EV rides on 18-inch wheels; however, the latest spy suggests that the petrol version could get 17- and 18-inch wheels. The rear has similarities with the Compass SUV in terms of overall appearance. It gets X-shaped LED taillights fixed in rectangular shaped housing, relatively simple tailgate and blacked-out lower bumper with silver skid plate.

The official images reveal that the Jeep Avenger cabin will feature a 10.25-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen that sits atop the dash with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SAT NAV, voice recognition and OTA updates. The lower variants will have 7-inch driver display, while the higher variants will get 10.25-inch screen. The dashboard design seems inspired by the Wrangler, with a body-colored contrast panel across the width of the car, a 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel and an open dashboard storage shelf. The SUV comes with electrically adjustable front seats with heating and massage function, ambient lighting, a wireless smartphone charger, automatic climate control and a hands-free power tailgate. The spotted model lacks a sunroof; however, this feature comes with the top-spec model.

Jeep Avenger Gasoline Specifications

The online configurator confirms that the new Jeep Avenger will be powered by a 100bhp, 1.2-litre GSE turbo petrol engine. The ICE version will be offered with a manual gearbox, and the automatic version will come at a later stage. The Avenger is designed and developed on the modular CMP platform that underpins the Peugeot 2008, DS Crossback and Opel Mokka.

The new compact SUV is also expected to be launched in our market. The India-spec model will most likely measure around 4 meters in length and will cost around Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh. Jeep may also launch the electric version of the SUV, which is claimed to offer a range of up to 550 km.
