There is good news for all those gearheads who love to play the wildly popular Call of Duty video game. GMC has just announced that the upcoming installments of this video game series will feature the Hummer EV pickup truck. As a result, players will be able to actively interact with this vehicle in the game, allowing them to have an immersive experience with this electric truck. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 will be the two versions of this Activision first-person shooter where this electric pickup truck will appear.

In its pickup guise, the GMC Hummer EV will be the first all-electric vehicle to appear in the Call of Duty franchise. Consequently, players will be able to experience a digitized version of this truck in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 single-player campaign, which will arrive on October 28 this year. However, neither GMC nor Activision have revealed any details related to the exact missions in which the Hummer EV will appear in this particular version of the game.

In addition, players will also have the opportunity to drive this truck in the open world of Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0, which will debut sometime this fall. The huge map of Warzone 2.0 allows the players to utilize the off-road capabilities of this electric pickup truck. This is not the first time Hummer has entered the world of Call of Duty. Its military-specific version, popularly known as the Humvee, has featured several times in this franchise.

The current generation of Hummer is an electrified resurrection of the civilian derivative of the original military-spec Humvee. Although the Humvee continues to serve the US military, the road-going version went out of production in 2010. It was revived in 2020 as an all-electric offering. An SUV, as well as a pickup truck derivative of the Hummer EV, are currently offered. Even this new version is as ridiculous as the old ones in terms of its features and details. The only difference is that this iconic 4×4 now gets an electric powertrain instead of having a gas-guzzling engine under the hood.

The military-specific Hummer appeared frequently in the previous versions of Call of Duty. But with the introduction of its EV version, things look even more exciting. The reason for this is that the Hummer EV comes with three electric motors, with a combined system output of 1000 horsepower in the pickup version and 830 horsepower in the SUV version. The electric motors can produce 11,500 lb-ft of torque in both of these versions. These are fed by a 212.7 kWh battery pack that, according to GM, offers 350 miles of range on the pickup and 300 miles on the SUV version – leaving no room for range anxiety when completing important missions in a Call of Duty campaign.

The Hummer EV comes with a Watts To Freedom mode, allowing this massive 9640 pound electric vehicle to accelerate from 0-60 MPH in just 3 seconds in its pickup rail. While there is no information on how this feature will appear in the game, it will surely be exciting to experience in the virtual world.

In addition to its impressive straight-line capabilities, the Hummer EV offers a competent off-road package. It comes with massive 38-inch all-terrain tires and gets 11-inches of suspension travel. These features are sure to carry over to the digitized version of this truck and will be fun to experience in the world of Call of Duty and provide an exciting experience when completing missions.

In addition to its off-road chops, the Hummer EV has some unique features that are straight out of a video game. For example, it comes with four-wheel steering, which offers the crabwalk function. This allows the truck to move sideways when all four wheels point in the same direction. As a result, this massive truck can avoid obstacles like giant boulders while traversing extreme terrain. Of course, this feature will also be an asset in the world of Call of Duty.

The GMC Hummer EV gets a futuristic exterior design, especially the version 1 version, which will appear in the Call of Duty series. This, along with the crisp interior layout with a white, black and bronze color palette, fits perfectly into the world of virtual gaming. Additionally, this electric pickup comes with a 13.4-inch touchscreen infotainment display that is complemented by a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Both of these screens offer graphics and visual effects that will be at home in the virtual world. Ironically, Epic Games, the company that makes the popular Fortnite video game, designed the graphics for the Hummer EV.
