Powertrain –

3.6-liter Pentastar V6 with ESS engine. (Jeep).

Powertrain options will remain the same for 2023. The 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 with Engine Stop/Start (ESS) remains standard across the lineup, while the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 with ESS is optional.

The Gladiator continues to be one of the few midsize pickups to offer a 6-speed manual transmission in addition to its available 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission. 6-speed is standard on Sport, Willys Sport, Sport S, Willys, Rubicon and Mojave models for 2023.

The standard Pentastar V6 delivers 285 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque to the Gladiator. It was designed to give a board torque band, which is great on the trail. These Pentastar-equipped models have up to 1,710 pounds of payload and up to 7,700 pounds of towing capacity with the available Max tow package.

3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 with ESS engine. (Jeep).

The optional EcoDiesel V6 delivers 260 horsepower and 442 lb.-ft. of torque. To handle greater torque, the EcoDiesel is mated to ZF’s 8-speed 8HP75 8-speed automatic transmission, calibrated for low-rpm shifts. The switch to diesel will set you back $4,000 for the EcoDiesel and $500 for the 8-speed automatic transmission.

EcoDiesel is not available on Sport, Freedom or Mojave models and does not have a manual transmission.

Off the road –

2023 Jeep® Gladiator Rubicon 4×4 in Firecracker Red. (Jeep).

Equipped with a versatile box, a body-on-frame design, front and rear five-link systems, solid axles and electronic lockers, the Gladiator is built to meet the demands of an active lifestyle while delivering an open-air riding experience in a design that is unmistakable Jeep.

While all but one Gladiator proudly wears the “Trail Rated®” badge, it means the Gladiator is ready to take on whatever terrain lies ahead. Being track rated means that the vehicle has passed a series of grueling tests in five categories: Traction, Water Fording, Maneuverability, Articulation and Ground Clearance.

The capable powertrain in the Sport-based and Overland-based models includes the Command-Trac NV241 part-time, two-speed transmission, which has a low gear ratio of 2.72:1. Additionally, an optional Trac-Lok rear differential provides extra torque and traction in low-traction environments, such as sand, mud or snow.

The king of off-road variants is the Rubicon. Rubicon models give the Gladiator off-road features such as the Rock-Trac NV241OR two-speed transmission with a low gear ratio of 4.0:1. The Gladiator Rubicon also includes electric front and rear locking differentials, a disconnect front sway bar, off-road winch-capable bumpers with removable end caps, and 33-inch tires, taking the Gladiator to its highest level of capability.

2023 Jeep® Gladiator Mojave 4×4 in Sting Gray. (Jeep).

If rock crawling isn’t your forte, Gladiator Mojave might be right up your alley. The Mojave is the first “desert-rated” Jeep vehicle, meaning it has surpassed Jeep’s tests in five categories, traction, desert durability, ride control and stability, mobility and responsiveness, and ground clearance.

The Mojave is equipped with high-performance FOX 2.5-inch internal bypass shocks with reservoirs and industry-first FOX front hydraulic bumpers to maximize handling in addition to a rear locking differential and 33-inch tires.

The Gladiator offers a two-speed full-time transmission across the range that is intuitive and allows the driver to set it and forget it, while constantly sending power to the front and rear wheels. The Selec-Trac transmission with full-time all-wheel drive and 2.72:1 low-range gearing is available on the Sport, Overland and Mojave, while the Rock-Trac Full-Time transmission with low-level 4:1 gear range is available on the Rubicon.

Technology and Security –

By combining traditional Jeep characteristics with strong truck characteristics, the Jeep Gladiator is a unique vehicle with unmatched capability.

Standard Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Electronic Roll Damping, Trailer Sway Control, Hill-start Assist and Brake Grip Control are among more than 80 available safety and security features.

Earl will launch on January 2, 2023, so it will be a while to wait for Gladiator fans. The second limited edition colorway will be the return of the famous Punk. Punk’n fans, you’ll have to wait a full year as the colorway is scheduled to return to the lineup on August 28, 2023.

Among the standard Softtop, Hardtop and body-colored Hardtop options, a customer can select the Sunrider Flip Top for the Hardtop, available on all Gladiator models, offering a front-row soft top that quickly and easily folds back for an enhanced outdoor driving experience.

The available Dual-Door Group, with base or premium tops, includes both full and half doors. Full steel production doors are installed on the Gladiator while matching body colored half doors are conveniently packed into the vehicle. Engineered, tested and backed by the factory, the new Jeep Gladiator half-door option enhances the driving experience with production design, safety and occupant protection. With lower window trims, new half doors provide improved visibility when maneuvering on and off-road.

Acknowledging the announcements from Jeep, they have also updated their Build & Price configurator for the 2023 Jeep Gladiator on Jeep.com.
