Do you want to drive terrain and get a massage as well?
GMC’s new 2022 Sierra Denali Ultimate and Sierra AT4X pickups will offer off-road and powerful massage chairs.
General Motors introduced the new Denali Ultimate in commercials that it ran during NFL Thursday Night Football on Fox. Customers can see the rest of the 2022 Sierra range at gmc.com.
GMC leaders say the fresh Sierra series is the most technologically advanced and luxurious offering that comes from the brand. In addition to upgrades to the exterior and interior, the Sierra will feature GM’s hands-free Super Cruise driving technology with trailer capacity, and features like Google built-in with voice command features and additional off-road capability.
GMC leaders say the updated Sierra, along with the new Denali Ultimate and AT4X trims, will help the brand grow its market share in the pickup segment.
“What we’ve heard from customers is that they want more equipment and unmatched technology and that’s where Super Cruise comes in,” said Molly Peck, vice president of Buick GMC marketing. “There are trucks that are capable and there are trucks that have luxury. Our customers say they want both.”
New colors, new technology
2022 The Sierra pickup has an updated exterior design with a revised front bumper, facade, grille design and finish on each trim.
New LED headlights with dual projectors and different placement of the C-shaped warning lights give the Sierra a bolder look. It comes in three new exterior colors, at an extra cost. These are Titanium Rush Metallic, Dynamic Blue Metallic and Desert Sand Metallic.
The Sierra, like the upcoming 2023 Cadillac Lyriq all-electric SUV, will have animated light sequences that are activated as the driver approaches or leaves the truck. GMC gave SLT and Denali trim levels a new wheel design.
Inside, the 2022 Sierra gets a new, 13.4-inch diagonal touch screen, a 12.3-inch diagonally configurable digital instrument cluster and a 15-inch diagonal multicolored head-up display. The center console will have electronic shift control on models with front buckets, GMC said.
Sierra will also offer a new Elevation Premium package that includes a jet-black leather interior with bucket seats, rear seat with storage, Sierra Safety Plus package, which includes driver assistance features and a spray-on bed linen.
2022 Sierra continues to offer the six-functional MultiPro tailgate and CarbonPro carbon fiber composite bed, which provide 63.9 cubic feet of short-bed cargo bed volume.
The starting base prices for the five trims are as follows:
- Sierra Pro: $ 32,495
- Elevation: $ 45,495
- SLT: 50 895 USD
- Denali: $ 61 295
- New AT4X: $ 74,995
- New Denali Utlimate: $ 80,395, which includes Super Cruise.
A new Denali
The new Sierra Denali Ultimate trim takes GMC’s advanced brand Denali even higher, said GMC’s brand manager Duncan Aldred.
It will as standard include a towable Super Cruise and CarbonPro composite cargo box for extra cargo volume with a short bed.
Vader chrome is used on the grill and it comes with 22-inch wheels, finish in low-gloss black with machined accents. Also included is the MultiPro tailgate, Denali Premium Suspension with Adaptive Ride Control and power steering.
It will have an alpine Umber interior cabin, with full-grain leather details and Paldao wooden slats with open pores. GMC said that the darkened finish of the wood creates a distinct color mix. It has a standard electric sunroof.
In addition, it will have a leather-covered instrument panel, full-grain leather door panels with etched stainless steel speaker grilles, a leather-wrapped console lid, leather front and rear seats with the Denali Ultimate brand on the front seat backs and a premium micro-suede headliner to list some.
In addition, brand new 16-way electrically adjustable and massaging front seats are included with a Bose sound system with 12 speakers.
Offroad with style
The massage seats are also available on the AT4X.
GMC said this trim will offer advanced off-road capability without compromising on-road comfort, technology, traction and payload capacity expected.
AT4X has a standard 6.2L V-8 engine and 10-speed automatic transmission, 18-inch wheels and springs that increase maximum front and rear suspension. It also has specific calibrations of off-road chassis and suspension.
A distinctive feature is off-road mode that “lets you crawl with one-peddle-drive. It’s really amazing and that makes it a super-capable off-road vehicle,” said Tim Demetrio, GMC’s Vehicle Performance Engineering Manager.
AT4X’s “Obsidian Rush” interior includes premium leather throughout. It has dark ash strips from Vanta and the same properties as Denali Ultimate. GMC said AT4X’s payload capacity is £ 1,420 and its trailer rating is £ 8,900.
