Good morning and welcome to our weekly summary of vehicle news from around the world, starting with …
Dutch forensic investigators decrypt Tesla’s driving data, reveals a tax chamber with information
The Dutch Forensic Institute (NFI) has managed to crack Tesla’s data encryption. According to the NFI, Tesla delivers “only a specific subset of signals, only those requested, for a specific time frame”, which prompted the institute to try to decode the rest of the data in connection with an accident they were investigating. But with that comes any privacy issues for Tesla vehicle users.
Driven: 2022 Audi S3 and A3 are your fast and sensible baby Executive Sedans
As traditional junior executives, such as the A4 and 3 Series, grew in size, the A3 used to be in a class of its own like a small four-door German sedan. But now there is competition from BMW’s 2-Series Gran Coupe and Mercedes A-Class Sedan. Does the new Audi sedan do enough to keep up with its rivals? And what about its hotter cousin, the 306-hp S3? To find out, we sat behind the wheel of both to give you our first impressions.
Honda unveils new 2022 Civic Si with 200 hp turbo and Type R speed matching technology
2022 Honda Civic Si will surely satisfy the purists, as it is only available with manual transmission and has a healthy 200 hp. While not quite the firecracker that the Type R will be, the new car has the same speed-matching technology for seamless shifts. Other highlights include a lighter flywheel and stiffer chassis, while the exhaust system has also been refined. At the same time, the manual box has a 10 percent shorter throw.

2022 GMC Sierra 1500 increases luxury by introducing two new trim levels: Denali Ultimate and AT4X. Denali Ultimate claims that it is the “most advanced and luxurious pickup in its class”, while the new AT4X mixes comfort with off-road capacity. In addition, the entire range gets a revised styling and cabin improvements with a greater focus on technology. SLE and higher trim get a completely new exclusive interior, with large screens, built-in apps and voice control.
New 2022 Range Rover leaked ahead of next week’s unveiling
While we, thanks to a previous official teaser, knew that the next generation Range Rover would not be a new design, we might have expected the front and sides to be a little different. But thanks to several leaks, we can see that the 2022 Range Rover really looks almost identical to the one it replaces. The back has the most significant changes, with narrow vertical lamp units that appear as black panels when not lit and are connected via a transverse panel under the rear window to which the Range Rover letters are attached. The official unveiling will take place on October 26.
Tesla Cybertruck inches closer to production as a prototype with side mirrors and wipers
Although it is delayed until 2022, testing of the Tesla Cybertruck seems to be in full swing. A prototype was recently seen at Merced County Castle Airport with a handful of new items, including side mirrors, what are said to be windshield wipers, more conventional wheels and what appear to be fog lights.
2024 Hyundai Ioniq 7 Large SUV: Design, technology and everything else we know
The new Ioniq 7 promises to be the first large all-electric SUV from Hyundai. The Korean carmaker teased the three-row electric SUV at last month’s Motor Show in Munich 2021 (IAA 2021), and we’ve gathered everything you need to know about the next generation SUV, along with some of our own illustrations.
Foxconn presents electric cars C, Model E and Model T with up to 740 hp
When it comes to naming, we have often seen rage when brands step on each other’s toes (see: Porsche vs. Peugeot with 901 and 911). So we’m not sure Ford (or even Tesla for that matter) will be happy with Foxconn’s concept name, but Foxtron Model C, Model E and Model T were unveiled at the company’s Tech Day event. Model C is a relatively stylish crossover that has a carbon fiber hood and narrow headlights. Model E was designed together with Pininfarina and has a sedentary design with sloping roofs. Finally, the Model T is described as a “nice city bus” and does pretty much what it says on the plate.

GTA Definitive Edition trailer drops
The trailer for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition has dropped to mixed reactions on social media. Although many were anxious to see the titles remastered, there is a feeling that more could have been done to modernize or improve the graphics, as it looks more like an HD port of the originals rather than a full-on remaster.
